How to Store Matcha: Shelf Life and Freshness Guide

Store matcha in an airtight container away from light, heat, and moisture. Use within 4 to 6 weeks of opening for peak flavor. Unopened matcha lasts 12 to 24 months. Do not refrigerate unless the container is completely airtight -- condensation degrades matcha quickly.
The four enemies of matcha freshness
Matcha degrades from four things: light (breaks down chlorophyll), heat (accelerates oxidation), moisture (causes clumping and oxidation), and air (oxidizes catechins and chlorophyll). Store matcha in an opaque, airtight container in a cool, dark cupboard to protect against all four.

| Airtight container, freezer | Up to 6 months (must be completely airtight) |
| Loose bag, room temperature | 1 to 2 weeks before noticeable degradation |
