Matcha is naturally keto-friendly -- 2g of matcha powder contains less than 1g of net carbs. The key is avoiding high-carb additions like sugar, oat milk, and flour. Best keto matcha recipes: matcha latte with heavy cream and monk fruit sweetener (~2g net carbs), matcha fat bombs, and matcha chia pudding with almond milk.

Is Matcha Keto?

Yes. Matcha powder is very low in carbohydrates -- a standard 2g serving contains less than 1g of net carbs. The caffeine and L-theanine in matcha also support mental clarity during ketosis, when some people experience brain fog.

The challenge with keto matcha recipes is avoiding high-carb additions: sugar, oat milk (high in carbs), regular milk (contains lactose), and flour-based baked goods.

Keto Matcha Latte

Whisk 1 tsp (2g) ceremonial matcha with 2 oz of 175F water until frothy. Add 4 oz heavy cream (warmed or cold) and 2 oz hot water. Sweeten with monk fruit sweetener or erythritol to taste. Total net carbs: ~2g.

For a richer version: blend whisked matcha with 2 oz heavy cream and 1 tbsp MCT oil for a keto bulletproof matcha.

Keto Matcha Fat Bombs

Melt 1/2 cup coconut oil with 2 oz cream cheese. Whisk in 1.5 tbsp culinary matcha, 2 tbsp powdered erythritol, and 1/4 tsp vanilla. Pour into silicone molds and freeze for 1 hour. Makes 12 fat bombs, ~1g net carbs each. Store in the freezer.

Keto Matcha Chia Pudding

Whisk 1 tsp matcha with 2 tbsp warm almond milk until smooth. Add 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 3 tbsp chia seeds, and 1 tbsp monk fruit sweetener. Stir well, refrigerate overnight. Net carbs: ~4g per serving (mostly from chia seeds, which are high in fiber).

Keto Matcha Cookies

Replace flour with almond flour (2 cups), sugar with erythritol (3/4 cup), and use butter and eggs as normal. Add 1.5 tbsp culinary matcha. Bake at 350F for 12 to 14 minutes. Net carbs: ~2g per cookie.
